Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries, chopped
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Feel free to substitute walnuts for pecans if that’s your preference, or even add a dash of cayenne pepper for a slight kick. The recipe is as flexible as a family recipe should be, allowing you to add your own personal touch.
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until well blended and creamy.
- Add the chopped cranberries, pecans, and chives into the cheese mixture. Stir until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Drizzle in the honey and sprinkle in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to combine the flavors.
- Once the mixture is cohesive, shape it into a ball. If the mixture is too soft, refrigerate for 10-15 minutes until it firms up enough to hold its shape.
- Transfer the cheese ball onto a serving plate and, if desired, roll it in additional chopped pecans or chives for extra texture and color.
- Cover the cheese ball with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Before serving, let the cheese ball sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes for the best texture and flavor. Enjoy with crackers or fresh bread.
